Specialties
Surgical Expertise
Every procedure uses the latest technology — matched to your specific anatomy, condition, and goals.
Mako® Robotic Knee Replacement
Total and partial knee replacement using Mako robotic-arm assisted technology for personalized surgical plans and precise bone preparation. The robot creates a 3D model of your joint before surgery — every cut is pre-planned to your exact anatomy.
Total Shoulder & Reverse Shoulder Replacement
Restoring shoulder function through advanced replacement techniques, including reverse total shoulder arthroplasty for complex rotator cuff tear cases. Patients typically regain significant overhead motion and pain relief within months.
VELYS™ Hip Navigation System
Advanced digital navigation for hip replacement — real-time intraoperative data for precise implant positioning, optimized leg length, and improved patient outcomes. Dr. Anderton uses VELYS to minimize the risk of dislocation and leg-length discrepancy.
Patient Journey
Your Path to Recovery
Every patient's journey is unique — but the process is clear and structured. Here's exactly what to expect from your first appointment through recovery.
Initial Consultation
Meet Dr. Anderton, review your history, discuss your pain and limitations. He'll explain whether surgery is the right option and what to realistically expect.
Your action: Bring prior imaging (X-rays, MRI), a list of medications, and your questions.
Imaging & Diagnosis
Advanced CT scans or X-rays are used to build a 3D model of your joint. For Mako® procedures, your surgical plan is created digitally — before you ever enter the OR.
Your action: Complete imaging at North Canyon Medical Center. No special prep needed.
Pre-Op Preparation
Pre-surgical clearance with your primary care doctor, labs, any required PT. You'll receive detailed instructions on medications to pause and what to eat or avoid.
Your action: Arrange a post-surgery helper at home for the first 2 weeks. Prepare your recovery space.
Surgery Day
Most procedures are 1–2 hours. Mako® and VELYS™ technology guides every step in real time. Many patients go home same-day or after one night.
Your action: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Have your driver ready. Expect to be at the facility 4–6 hours total.
Recovery & Return to Life
Physical therapy begins within days. Most knee and hip patients walk independently within 3–6 weeks. Full recovery to activities like hiking and golf typically takes 3–6 months.
Your action: Commit to PT, take your medications as scheduled, and attend all follow-up appointments.

What I Recommend
These are books and tools I personally suggest to my patients. Good information and the right equipment can meaningfully improve your health outcomes.
Reading List
How Not to Die
Dr. Michael Greger
The science-backed guide to preventing and reversing the leading causes of death through evidence-based nutrition. I recommend this to patients who want to take an active role in their long-term musculoskeletal and cardiovascular health.
Why We Sleep
Matthew Walker, PhD
Sleep is the single most effective thing you can do to reset your body and mind. For my patients recovering from joint replacement, quality sleep directly accelerates tissue healing and reduces pain perception. This book explains why.
The Body Keeps the Score
Bessel van der Kolk, MD
A transformative look at how physical health, chronic pain, and psychological wellbeing are inseparably linked. Understanding this connection is essential for patients navigating long recovery journeys.
Home Monitoring Tools
Pulse Oximeter
Recovery MonitoringPost-operative patients benefit from monitoring blood oxygen saturation at home, especially during the first two weeks of recovery. A medical-grade fingertip oximeter is simple and reassuring.
Omron Blood Pressure Monitor
Home MonitoringFor patients managing hypertension alongside orthopedic care, a validated home blood pressure cuff puts you in control between appointments. Omron is the brand I trust and recommend by name.
